New York Indian Instrument Repair and Restoration

It takes great patience and knowledge to repair and setup these instruments properly. The old instruments are especially worth restoring because they were crafted by the masters who had finely honed their skills. Restoring old instruments allows us to preserve that original craftsmanship, which often have a depth and warmth that is unique to their age and sound.

I have restored, repaired and customized many different kinds of Indian instruments over the years, both here in the states and while abroad studying in India. Some include:

  • Harmonium

  • Veena (Vina)

  • Ectara

  • Bansuri Been

  • Dilruba

  • Esraj

  • Rudra Veena

  • Santoor

  • Sarangi

  • Saraswati Veena

  • Swaramandala

  • Sarod

  • Sitar

  • Surbahar

  • Tambura

  • Vichitra Veena

I specialize in the repair, restoration and customization of many different instruments from India which are in a different class than those from the West. Most are made from gourds and are very fragile. They have bridges that have to be finely tuned to resonate properly. Most have separate sympathetic strings that resonate when playing the main strings.
