This instrument was created while I was studying in India. Most Indian Door Harp's are cheaply constructed. I wanted to change that and put a true luthier's touch on the instrument.
This custom built Door Harp was made from book-matched Rosewood and had very special curved bracing on the soundboard to withstand the tension of the strings. The Om was carved into the soundboard and banded with Maple. The sides were multi-layered, steam-bent and finger-jointed at the seams. Maple binding was installed on the top and back around the sides. Rosewood pins were made and fitted into the top of the harp with bone beads added for striking. It was tuned to an Indian tuning and sounded incredible. A one-of-a-kind Door Harp resonating a flurry of sound!
