Most Ectara's are basic, in-expensive instruments. Not so when Dave Schneider creates his custom version of the Indian Ectara - the soul of the instrument is brought into reality.
This series of Ectara's were built from scratch using a gourd, high quality bamboo for the neck, a calf skin head. The leaves surrounding the head were made from carved Rosewood, inlaid with either Curly Maple, Ebony, Ruby, Saphhire, or Mother of Pearl. The designs were based on the Lotus petal. The Om's were Mother of Pearl inlaid in a piece of carved Rosewood shaped like a Lotus flowere or a circle. The bridges were hand-carved Rosewood which had transducers installed. The finish was a transparent Burgundy lacquer. Some of them were fitted with Shaller tuners that were incorporated into the Indian friction pegs. One showcases a silver Ganesh on the head.
These Ectara's were absolutely one-of-a-kind, true pieces of art and musical mastery.
